Half-Day and Full-Day Fleet Driving Courses.
If releasing drivers from their normal job for a day is difficult, then there are several options as outlined below...
Option 1 - Half day part theory-part practical sessions
A shortened theory session is followed by in vehicle driver training. One driver per Instructor from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and one driver per Instructor from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. This course can be really useful if there is a time issue with staff.
Each driver will be shown under the bonnet of their vehicle during a point and show exercise and asked to locate where the brake fluid, or power-steering fluid would go and how the oil level would be checked.
The driver will have a 15 minute drive and have a valuation on his drive. Two maybe three objectives will be highlighted for him/her to work on and a demonstration drive may then be shown.
The driver will then work on the objectives during a coaching period which may take 30 to 40 minutes.
A comfort stop can be provided. This would be an opportunity to discuss the progress while in a safe environment such as a supermarket car park.
The final part of the training will be a validation drive. This is the opportunity for the client to demonstrate how much knowledge has been taken on during the training and can practice the commentary drive.
Afterwards a multiple choice highways code question paper will be given to the driver to test his/her knowledge.
Option 2 - Full day part theory-part practical sessions
Should a full day be available then 2 drivers would be able to take part. This would extend the driving times. After the course each driver will be given a report and certificate of attendance.
